Carmen Carpenter Haggard

Carmen Haggard is a native Texan with several generations of farming in the Collin County area.
Always interested in nature and with early interests in drawing, painting and history, she has continued her education all during her life. She is a graduate of the Plano Independent Schools and Texas Christian University. After graduation, she moved to Dallas and taught art in the public schools, first on the elementary levels, then in the secondary levels. Education has always been important to her, and after the public schools she worked as an Adjunct Professor at UNT in Denton in the School of Visual Arts.
Now fully retired, she continues to pursue her own personal forms of creative expression and she has begun to assemble glass beads and gemstones into necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Her jewelry suggests hidden secrets of history in the ancient and mysterious stones and silver beads she has found during her travels. These same characteristics of textures and colors that are found in the stones are also evident in her paintings. Her email is carmen.haggard@tx.rr.com
