2012 Hill Country Painting Trip
Marie Renfro has attended the annual Hill Country January painting trip for over twenty years. As in previous years, this year proved to be most productive, with Marie completing eleven full sheet acrylic collages so far. Marie states, “It also gave me work to finish after I returned home to my studio and that is a good way to start the new year! I am always eager to finish and have new work for shows and patrons.”
Marie went to the Hill Country with the definite assignment of using more opaque colors in her paintings, especially grays. Since she is very interested in color, she used the opaque pigments to set off the transparent colors that she often uses. Also, working with new compositions, this became a period of valuable experimentation and creativity!
Several of Marie’s completed acrylic collages on watercolor paper are posted below:
“All Awhirl” 30″ x 22″ Acrylic Collage
“A Fine Line” 30″ x 22″ Acrylic Collage
